Waiting On Wednesday (18)

As always, Waiting on Wednesday is brought to us by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

My picks this week are:

Dirty Little Secrets by C. J. Omololu - Release date either April 10th, 2010 or February 2nd, 2010 (amazon and goodreads differ)

When 16 year-old Lucy comes home to find her mother dead under a stack of National Geographics in their garbage-filled home, she hesitates as she starts to dial 911. She hardly notices the mountains of stuff that fill every available space in the entire house or smells the decay anymore - but she knows the paramedics will, and so will the news cameras that will follow. They’ll notice the garbage and the smell and wonder how anyone ever lived like this. Only freaks live like this.

As she stares at the cell phone, Lucy can already hear the echoes of “Garbage Girl” and picture the look of disgust on everyone’s faces. With a normal life finally within reach, Lucy has to decide how far she’ll go to keep the family secrets safe.

(Summary from goodreads.)

Why I want this: First of all, I love the cover. I can't think of who the girl reminds me of, but I just absolutely love it. Second of all, I watch a lot of trashy TV on TLC, including those "Help! I'm a hoarder!" type of shows... so this sounds really good to me. Plus I love the name Lucy.

Sleepless by Cyn Balog - Release date July 13th, 2010 and no amazon link that I can find

Eron De Marchelle isn't supposed to feel a connection. He is a Sandman, a supernatural being whose purpose is to seduce human charges to sleep. While he can communicate with his charges in their dreams, he isn't encouraged to--after all, getting too involved in one human's life would prevent him helping his other charges get their needed rest.

But he can't deny that he feels something for Julia. Julia, with her fiery red hair and her sad dreams. Just weeks ago, her boyfriend died in a car accident, and Eron can tell that she feels more alone than ever. Eron was human once too, many years ago, and he remembers how it felt to lose the one he loved. Eron has always felt protective of Julia . . . but now, when she seems to need him more than ever, he can't seem to reach her . . .

Sandmen are forbidden from communicating with humans outside their dreams. But will Eron be willing to risk everything for a chance to be with the person he loves?

(Summary from goodreads.)

Why I want this: *Drool* I mean... One: I've been wishing fervently for Fairy Tale for ages. I need to get that soon. Two: The cover is gorgeous. (Yes, I'm shallow.) Three: Eron sounds hot. Four: Sandman??? How cool is that?? Five: It makes me think of this Sleepless.

So that's it for this wednesday!
Peace and cookies,
Laina
