Waiting on Wednesday is, of course, brought to us by the lovely Jill at Breaking the Spine.
Not sure if I have a theme this week. Maybe you guys can come up with one :P First up this week we have:
The Properties of Water by Hannah Roberts McKinnon - To be released October 26th, 2010
"The Properties of Water" is the story of two teenage sisters who live on a lake. When the older sister suffers a tragic swimming accident, both sisters and their family must learn to cope with the aftermath.
(Summary from goodreads.)
Why I want it: Because it sounds sad and we can all use a good cry once in a while. Sorry I couldn't find a better summary. Hey, does this cover remind anyone else of the cover of Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins?
Next up, we have:
Girl, Stolen by April Henry - To be released September 28th, 2010
Sixteen year-old Cheyenne Wilder is sleeping in the back of a car while her mom fills her prescription at the pharmacy. Before Cheyenne realizes what's happening, their car is being stolen — with her inside! Griffin hadn’t meant to kidnap Cheyenne, all he needed to do was steal a car for the others. But once Griffin's dad finds out that Cheyenne’s father is the president of a powerful corporation, everything changes — now there’s a reason to keep her. What Griffin doesn’t know is that Cheyenne is not only sick with pneumonia, she is blind. How will Cheyenne survive this nightmare, and if she does, at what price?
(Summary from goodreads.)
Why I want it: Because it sounds awesome! Kidnapping books really intrigue me, and I can only remember one book I've read with a blind main character, From Charlie's Point of View by Richard Scrimger (really recommend it). And does this cover remind anyone else of Sleepless by Thomas Fahy?
Hey, maybe that's my theme! It works as well as any.
Okay, that's it for today.
Peace and cookies,
Laina
Oh!! And you can read the first chapter of Girl, Stolen here.
These both sound really good. Great picks!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment! I think they sound great, too :)
