Waiting on Wednesday is, of course, brought to us by the lovely Jill at Breaking the Spine.
I think I have a little bit of a theme this week... Kind of.
First up this Wednesday we have:
Daughter of Winter by Pat Lowery Collins - To be released October 12th, 2010
In the mid-nineteenth-century shipbuilding town of Essex, Massachusetts, twelve-year-old Addie learns a startling secret about her past when she escapes servitude by running away to live in the snowy woods and meets an elderly Wampanoag woman.
(Summary from goodreads.)
I really like the cover of this one. It reminds me of Christmas.
Also, I've read one of her picture books, I Am a Dancer and really, really liked it. I think I read it to the kids at work, actually... I can't remember, though.
Next up we have:
Meanicures by Catherine Clark - To be released October 12th, 2010
Madison is an average pre-teen living in Maine. For the most part, Madison has a happy life: a loving mother and good friends. But there's just one catch: the mean girls, who Madison and her friends used to be close with, often pick on the girls. After a particularly bad hair day, Madison takes matters into her own hands and before she knows it, finds herself turning mean. Will Madison make amends before she's left friendless?
(Summary from goodreads.)
This one sounds really cute. :)
So, did you guess my kinda theme?
Peace and cookies,
Laina
