Waiting on Wednesday is, of course, brought to us by Jill at Breaking the Spine.
Okay, so, my first pick this week is a Tenner (I love that site, I really do.)
Nightshade by Andrea Cremer - Release date fall, 2010.
(No cover yet.)
While other teenage girls daydream about boys, Calla Tor imagines ripping out her enemies’ throats. And she wouldn’t have it any other way. Calla was born a warrior and on her eighteenth-birthday she’ll become the alpha female of the next generation of Guardian wolves. But Calla’s predestined path veers off course the moment she saves the life of a wayward hiker, a boy her own age. This human boy’s secret will turn the young pack's world upside down and forever alter the outcome of the centuries-old Witches' War that surrounds them all.
(Summary from her bio.)
Why I want it: Wherewolves. Female werewolves (something I've only come across a few times). Love story (hopefully!). What more do I need to say?
I don't think it has an amazon link yet at least not one I could find, but here's the goodreads.
My other pick is:
Devoted by Shirlene Obuboi
After waking from a frightful nightmare, Abigail Lingston is alarmed to find that she is no longer herself. Her body is no longer under her control, and her mind is now inhabited by another entity, something terrifying and spiteful and heartless. After a tragic accident that leaves her roommate in critical condition and Abigail questioning her own sanity, Abigail finds herself in a new world, Fosha. At first glance, Fosha seems flawless - a perfect haven. However, shadowy manifestations of emotion, nicknamed Reefers, haunt its corners and alleyways, terrorizing citizens with feelings that should have died long ago. Only an elite few, guarded with resistance and armed with artificial purifiers called Facultas, can hope to destroy them. Yet the holder of the true, pure Facultas is Fosha's only stranger, and with the burden of an entire world on her shoulders, Abigail is unsure of how to handle the pressure?
(Summary from goodreads.)
Why I want this: Because it sounds amazing, that's why. I don't think I've ever read anything like this before. Plus I love the purple eyes on the cover.
Okay, that's it for me for this week!
Peace and cookies,
Laina
