Waiting on Wednesday (43)

Waiting on Wednesday is, of course, brought to us by the lovely Jill at Breaking the Spine.

I don't really have a theme or anything for this week, they just come out near each other.

First up is:

Nightshade by Andrea Cremer - To be released October 19th, 2010

While other teenage girls daydream about boys, Calla Tor imagines ripping out her enemies’ throats. And she wouldn’t have it any other way. Calla was born a warrior and on her eighteenth-birthday she’ll become the alpha female of the next generation of Guardian wolves. But Calla’s predestined path veers off course the moment she saves the life of a wayward hiker, a boy her own age. This human boy’s secret will turn the young pack's world upside down and forever alter the outcome of the centuries-old Witches' War that surrounds them all.

(Summary from goodreads.)

Why I want this: Um. Hello. WEREWOLVES. And I think I said this before, but female werewolves are a bit rare in my experience, so this is quite neat.

And the flowers (I think they're calla lilies) are gorgeous. This cover in general is just gorgeous.

Next up is:

Inconvenient by Margie Gelbwasser - To be released in November 2010. Not sure of the exact date, though.

Alyssa Bondar’s world is falling apart. She has just entered her sophomore year at Glenfair High, the only place to hang out is behind the CVS, Keith her cross-country crush keeps sending her mixed signals, and her best friend Lana has started the school year with large breasts and a sexy attitude – attracting the attention of the most popular kids in the school, a group Alyssa clearly doesn’t fit into.

Alyssa’s Jewish, like most of Glenfair, but since she’s also Russian, Alyssa feels even more separated from other teens. How many other Jewish families have a New Year’s tree with ornaments? On top of all this, Alyssa’s once stable home environment has become chaotic.

Alyssa is used to alcohol accompanying every meal and event in the Russian culture. But when Alyssa’s mother loses her job, the usual drink or two changes into a full-time happy hour. While Alyssa's father uses news reports of war unrest in the Middle East as his escape from reality, Alyssa is left to pick up the pieces of her shattered family alone. As her mother’s alcoholism gets worse, Alyssa must decide how much she can and should handle before she crumbles as well.

(Summary from goodreads.)

Why I want it: This one sounds like one of those beautiful tragic books. Know what I mean? Can't wait to read it.

Okay, so, that's all, I think. Comments, questions, concerns? Leave a message after the beep letting me know.

Peace and cookies,
Laina. (Beep.)

  1. I like the cover of Nightshade, but I don't know about the second book. I usually don't go for tragedy that much.

PS; The girl from Nightshade reminds me of Xhex from The Black Dagger Brotherhood.

  2. Both sound really good and have lovely covers.
