Waiting On Wednesday (8)

Waiting on Wednesday is brought to us by Jill at Breaking the Spine. I'm going for a theme this week, can you guess what it is?

First up is a book which many of you have probably already seen (there were a bunch of Waiting on Wednesdays about it last week, but I can't resist).

Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

High school sophomore Nora Grey is irritated to find herself partnered in biology class with a "tall, dark and annoying" senior named Patch. But their barbed exchanges only showcase their undeniable chemistry, and Nora soon finds herself lured toward Patch's shadowy past, frequently enlisting her best friend Vee to help uncover his secrets.

Then, a vindictive young man from a nearby private school begins stalking Nora. He's been double-crossed, and he wants payback. Nora goes to the police, but they don't believe her. Alone and vulnerable, she turns to the only person she believes can help her - Patch. But when she discovers scars on his back, she realizes she may be in more danger than she bargained for: Patch, a fallen angel banished to Earth, has crossed centuries on a single-minded mission to get his wings back. But for his wish to come true, someone must die...and Nora may be the perfect sacrifice.

Why I want it: The beginning of the summary reminds me of Twilight some (but I as always have Twilight on the brain) anyone agree? Anyways, it sounds amazing and I absolutely love the cover.

(Cover from the author's
LiveJournal, which has a link to my blog on it!!! And I didn't even ask!!!! I just saw that, sorry. Summary from Hope's Bookshelf because I can't fine one anywhere else right now. Click the picture to see it in more detail, it's huge and gorgeous.)

Next up:

Bleeding Violet by Dia Reeves

(I found a summary here that's a little different from the amazon one. It's longer so I'm using it instead.)

Sixteen-year-old Hanna Järvinen is an unusual girl with a head full of hallucinations, a medicine cabinet full of pills, and a closet full of frilly, violet dresses. Everything a girl needs–except love. But that’s what mothers are for, and Hanna is sure she can reconcile with hers, even though she was abandoned as a baby.

Unfortunately, her mother lives in Portero, an odd East Texas town with doors that lead out of the world, flesh-eating creatures, and parasitical spirits–not an ideal environment for winning a mother’s love.

Hanna, however, refuses to let a few monsters interfere with her plans. If she has to flirt a little, lie a little, kill a little, or even bleed a little, she’ll do it. Hanna can live with monsters and mayhem, but she would rather die than live without love.

Why I want it: You read that summary, right? 'Nuff said.

Normally that'd be it for me, but I want to share a book trailor. (A first for me.) It's for Strange Angels by Lili St. Crow and I totally love it. Enjoy. :)

Now that really is it for me.
Peace and cookies,
Laina

  4. Ahh both sounds great. Hush Hush is denifintely unique. I don't think that by killing Nora, Patch has found his way back to heaven. Unless he wants a totally different set of wings, of course.
