Book Blogger Hop (26)

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer from Crazy-For-Books and is now hosted by Billy of Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer.

This week's question is: Have you ever thought about taking a break from blogging/Booktubing (if you're a Booktuber)? If you have, how long was the break and what did you learn from it?

My answer: I did, in fact. I didn't blog for over a year, from July 2012 to September 2013.

I learned depression sucks and kills your creativity.

Book Blogger Hop (25)

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer from Crazy-For-Books and is now hosted by Billy of Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer.

This week's question is: Do you have celebrations for your blog's anniversary such as a giveaway?

I used to, but not so much anymore. I only really do giveaways now in the summer for QSR and those are usually paid for by someone else because I am broke and shipping from Canada is expensive/buying stuff from the US is expensive.

My blog anniversary is in October. Anyone wanna sponser a giveaway? My blog will be... wow, eleven years old.

Wow. I'm going to go be stunned by that now.

Book Blogger Hop (24)

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer from Crazy-For-Books and is now hosted by Billy of Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer.

This week's question is: Audio books vs Ebook? If the world stopped printing books which would you prefer between the two?

I think I would prefer ebook. I read a lot faster than most people can speak out loud unless you speed them up to sound like a chipmunk or something, and I just don't get as much out of them. Which is a little strange, since I listen to podcasts a ton. Maybe it's just the difference in how they're meant to be taken in. Podcasts are written to be read out loud and performed in a way books aren't.

Which isn't to say audiobooks can't enjoyable! They're just different mediums and wow, I shouldn't be blogging while I'm feeling under the weather.

Although to be fair, ebooks do take me a bit longer to read, too. But I really feel that I absorb more information from reading than solely from listening. Which to go back to podcasts, is why I don't listen to nonfiction ones.

How about you all?

Book Blogger Hop (23)

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer from Crazy-For-Books and is now hosted by Billy of Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer.

This week's question is: How many books did you read last year? Will your goal be to match that number or surpass it?

I read exactly 100 books last year. My goal is to be under that this year! I have other projects I want to do besides only reading, and balance is important to life. I need to go easier on myself. For a full discussion of my reading goals this year, check out this post!

Well, this is a short post. Not much else to say on that though!

Thanks for reading.

Book Blogger Hop (20)

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer from Crazy-For-Books and is now hosted by Billy of Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer.

This week's question is: Do you tend to visit the same blogs each week but also try to look for new blogs?

My answer: Honestly, and this is going to sound awful, I don't really read a lot of blogs just for fun. I follow a bunch, and I have a feed reader all set up with a bunch of great blogs and... I just never check it. I probably should read more, but hey, depression.

When I do read them, though, is when I'm looking for other reviews to link to in mine. And for that, I'm all over the place. If I know someone who fits what I'm looking for, I'll check them out, but a lot of the time I'm just searching for anything, whether it's from a google search, or a twitter search, or looking at goodreads reviews.

What about you all?

Book Blogger Hop (19)

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer from Crazy-For-Books and is now hosted by Billy of Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer.

This week's question is: If you could travel back in time to purchase the first printing of a specific novel, what book would that be?

My answer: I dunno, what book would get me a ton of money in the present so I never had to worry about it again? :P

Okay, okay, a less cynical answer. Ummmm. Dracula.

Not this one. This isn't a first printing. I just thought this post needed something to break it up, and this cover was cool.
Because Luci really wants a nice copy of Dracula, and I think a first edition print would be nice, and then I could give it to them and they'd be all happy.

Oh, and maybe a first printing of Anne of Green Gables. I just think that'd be cool.

Book Blogger Hop (18)

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer from Crazy-For-Books and is now hosted by Billy of Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer.

This week's question is: Do you take notes about the book you are reading as you read?

My answer: Oh definitely!! I started taking notes a few years into blogging, and I found that it helped me organize my thoughts so much better. Even if I don't necessarily use all my notes, or if they aren't super detailed, it helps to have something to look back on to while I'm writing my review, especially it's the next day or later.

I also try to use like every single page. The notebook I'm using right now is a little larger, so there are more lines and unless I'm really, really angry at a book, I don't usually use more than the one page. I ran out of pages going towards the back, so right now what I'm doing is using the backs. And because I'm a little odd, that means flipping it upside down so the margins are on the "right" side. Totally unnecessary, but it does help me keep the pages separate and not get confused, at least.

Maybe one day I'll re-organize my closet (hoping to do that this winter, actually, but I need a new bookshelf to do what I want) and take pictures of all my old review notebooks.

And if you ever need to buy me something, small notebooks (about the size of a paperback) are the perfect gift!

Book Blogger Hop (17)

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer from Crazy-For-Books and is now hosted by Billy of Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer.

This week's question is: Do you do collaborations with brands or other bloggers? Which collaboration was your favorite and why?

My answer: I have guest bloggers during Queer Summer Reading, but I don't do a lot of that kind of thing. Occasionally I do a blog post, but I also find them a lot of pressure so I don't do them very often, lol.

I did have a post sponsered by a company once (just a post I had already written, and included a link to them, not something I wrote for them), and there used to be a company that gave a lot of bloggers random stuff to review, and I got my 2 bookcases and a set of cookware from that, all of which I still use constantly.

I'm not against collaborating with brands or companies at all. They just need to fit well on here. Although, honestly, if Shop Miss A ever wanted to have me do a haul, we'd make it fit. I love that site.

So if anyone wants to collaborate/pay me, hit the thing that says contact up below my header. I'm friendly, I swear ;)

Thanks for reading!

Book Blogger Hop (16)

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer from Crazy-For-Books and is now hosted by Billy of Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer.

This week's question is: Recommend one horror novel for non-horror readers.

My answer: *I'm* not a horror reader! Not really, lol. Most of the horror I read is middle grade. I recently read an anthology of MG horror, but I wasn't a big fan, and the vast majority of horror I read is like. Goosebumps.

I guess a couple YA horror-ish books I liked are:

Shadow Girl by Liana Liu

Amazon / Book Depository / Indiebound

Summary (from goodreads): The house on Arrow Island is full of mystery.

Yet when Mei arrives, she can’t help feeling relieved. She’s happy to spend the summer in an actual mansion tutoring a rich man’s daughter if it means a break from her normal life—her needy mother, her delinquent brother, their tiny apartment in the city. And Ella Morison seems like an easy charge, sweet and well behaved.

What Mei doesn’t know is that something is very wrong in the Morison household.

Though she tries to focus on her duties, Mei becomes increasingly distracted by the family’s problems and her own complicated feelings for Ella’s brother, Henry. But most disturbing of all are the unexplained noises she hears at night—the howling and thumping and cries.

Mei is a sensible girl. She isn’t superstitious; she doesn’t believe in ghosts. Yet she can’t shake her fear that there is danger lurking in the shadows of this beautiful house, a darkness that could destroy the family inside and out… and Mei along with them.

Shallow Graves by Kali Wallace

Published: January 26th, 2016 by Katherine Tegan Books. The paperback comes out Septeber 5th, 2017
Genre: YA Paranormal
Binding: Hardcover
Page Count: 358 plus acknowledgements and such.
Part of a series? I WISH.
Got via: The library.
Amazon / Book Depository / Indiebound

Summary (from goodreads): Breezy remembers leaving the party: the warm, wet grass under her feet, her cheek still stinging from a slap to her face. But when she wakes up, scared and pulling dirt from her mouth, a year has passed and she can’t explain how.

Nor can she explain the man lying at her grave, dead from her touch, or why her heartbeat comes and goes. She doesn’t remember who killed her or why. All she knows is that she’s somehow conscious—and not only that, she’s able to sense who around her is hiding a murderous past.

Haunted by happy memories from her life, Breezy sets out to find answers in the gritty, threatening world to which she now belongs—where killers hide in plain sight, and a sinister cult is hunting for strange creatures like her. What she discovers is at once empowering, redemptive, and dangerous.

The part where I keep talking to finish this post: These were both pretty creepy, and I liked them both.

Good Halloween reads, for sure!

Book Blogger Hop (15)

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer from Crazy-For-Books and is now hosted by Billy of Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer.

This week's question is: If you were to dress up as a literary figure (author or character) for Halloween, who would it be?

My answer: I would be Coraline. 100%

Probably movie Coraline, because then I could have blue hair, but definitely Coraline. Maybe I should be Coraline for Halloween 2019. The only problem is, the thing I dress up for, if I wore her raincoat, I would completely and utterly melt, plus I'm not really sure where I'd get a yellow raincoat. Would this be an iconic/recognizable enough Coraline outfit?

Oh, wait wait wait, what about her star sweater? I have black leggings, I always wear boots, though they're not blue, and you could probably DIY a version of that pretty easily.

You'd just need a basica long sleeve blue shirt or sweater, and some silver stars which you could probably find at a craft store.

Okay, I'm getting carried away. I'm being a mermaid this year anyways, lol, so it doesn't matter. But I can't say I won't be keeping my eyes open for star shirts for the next year.

That was a fun one! What about you all?

Book Blogger Hop (14)

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer from Crazy-For-Books and is now hosted by Billy of Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer.

Can I just say how cute this graphic is? I tweaked the html a tiny bit just to make it look better on my own layout, since the borders look a lot better on a dark background, and they strain the eye a little on a white background in my opinion, but it's super cute and really fun. And this Halloween girl is so ready for this.

This week's question is: It's getting close to Halloween. If you HAD to read one of these two genres, which would you prefer -- urban fantasy, or horror, and why?

My answer: Urban fantasy, for sure. I am not that big of a fan of horror, plus honestly there's not a huge range of modern MG and YA horror, so it'd be really hard to find stuff. A lot of adult horror just does a lot of things I'm not a big fan of, and so. It'd be hard, and I'm definitely much more into urban fantasy anyways.

*vibrates* HALLOWEEN!!

Book Blogger Hop (13)

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer from Crazy-For-Books and is now hosted by Billy of Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer.

This week's question is: Do you sneak a peek at the number of views your posts have gotten?

My answer: I mean, I see the numbers when I'm looking at my post list sometimes, but generally I don't care. I don't blog in a way that really makes you popular these days, or gives you really high view counts. I'm slow and steady, and I hope high-quality (which isn't to say that other blogs aren't high quality, just that, you know, 1300-word long reviews take a while to write) and I'm okay with that being my niche.

Don't stress the stuff you can't control, you know? I can work on my content, and I can work on maybe trying to get a review onto goodreads once in a blue moon (shaming myself so hard here), but I can't control how many people click over to my blog, or anything like that. Better to focus on the things that are under my control than what isn't.

Dang, I should eat dinner. I'm getting all weird, lol. What was your answer this week?

Book Blogger Hop (12)

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer from Crazy-For-Books and is now hosted by Billy of Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer.

This week's question is: Do you like to finish one book before starting the next or do you read several at once?

My answer: I read one book at a time like anyone who isn't a heathen.

No, I'm completely kidding. I don't care how other people manage their reading, but I can only deal with reading one book at a time. If I read more than one, I lose track of what's going on where. Having to read multiple books for school was always something I disliked. Plus I'm too impatient to find out what's going to happen, lol, and can't stop reading easily.

How about you all?

Book Blogger Hop (11)

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer from Crazy-For-Books and is now hosted by Billy of Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer.

This week's question is: What author do you not read and why?

My answer: Hehe, I have a lot. I have a goodreads shelf of that. Mostly it's about the author's behaviour. There are only so many books you can read in a lifetime. I really do try not to read a lot of books that I know I won't like, and I'm giving myself permission to DNF or pass on more books as I get older.

And that's true of books where I just don't click with the writing style, but it's especially true of books I find offensive. If your book, or your behaviour, tells me that you think I'm less than human, or that something's wrong with me for being the way I am, why would I want to spend time reading your book and then writing about it on my blog? I'm not going to support books from authors who hate ace/aro people, and I'm not going to support any author who writes fat hate books.

Plus I'm not going to put support behind books or authors that are, like, violently racist. I don't think I need to say why, huh?

On a very serious note, I'm also not going to read any author that has been outed as an abuser. I won't read their books, and any books I have read will eventually have their reviews edited or star ratings taken away on goodreads. (Eventually. I'm so behind, unfortunately.)

Yeesh, this got sad. What's something lighter I can add to this? Is there like a funny version of this answer? Um, I don't read a lot of books by dudes?

Oh well, that's the best we're getting today!

Book Blogger Hop (10)

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer from Crazy-For-Books and is now hosted by Billy of Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer.

This week's question is: Does a cluttered blog have you not returning? By cluttered I mean too many columns, small type, too many photos, difficult to follow, etc.

My answer: Yes! I am a person who gets visually overloaded very easily, and certain things also trigger eyestrain and headaches fairly easily in me. I'm really sensitive to what's going on with the backgrounds, too. I do not like reading white text on black or generally even dark backgrounds. Give me that black text on white contrast, please and thank you.

I also have a real pet peeve of giant headers. I'm probably alone here, but if your header fills my entire computer screen, I find that incredibly annoying. Maybe it looks good on like a big Mac screen or whatever, but I've got a laptop here and it does not, lol. Also, a ton of incredibly large pictures make a blog inaccessible to some, in my opinion. For a long time, I had very slow internet, and it could not handle that kind of blog because it would just be too much. It used to be very frustrating.

I finally got my mobile layout to not be transparent and just have a white background, and it's such a relief. The flowered background was so hard to read against. Thanks to Ren for that, who helped me fix the piece of code that I just could not get figured out. Ren's great, and you should hire him if you need something like that.

You might also notice that on mobile my menu is a lot different. I did actually figure out how to do that because my menu is pretty image heavy and, while the mobile menu isn't as pretty, it's functional and much less crowded in a small space. I also chose not to have the sidebar show on mobile, so that things are simpler and easier to read and load.

I'm not going to say my layouts are shining examples of perfection, but I think they balance looking nice with being easy enough to read and navigate. Tell me if I'm wrong, I suppose!! Maybe I just have weird preferences that no one else likes.

Oh well!

Peace and cookies,
Laina

Book Blogger Hop (9): QSR Edition

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer from Crazy-For-Books and is now hosted by Billy of Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer.

This week's question is: If you were stranded on a deserted island, which ONE book could you not live without?

Now, my answer to this always really boring, because I'm weird like that.

How to Survive on a Deserted Island by Tim O'Shei

Summary (from goodreads): If a shipwreck or a plane crash lands you on a deserted island, you might think your troubles are over. Think again! How to Survive on a Deserted Island will tell you how to find drinkable water, catch food, and signal rescuers that you need help.

Seriously, I want something that's going to tell me what to do and how to survive and you know, not die. And also how to get off the deserted island.

Now, since I'm super boring, I decided to outsource this one, and turn it into a Queer Summer Reading post. So!

I asked other people to answer this for me! And here are the answers I got:

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

Summary (from goodreads): 'It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife.' Thus memorably begins Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, one of the world's most popular novels. Pride and Prejudice--Austen's own 'darling child'--tells the story of fiercely independent Elizabeth Bennett, one of five sisters who must marry rich, as she confounds the arrogant, wealthy Mr. Darcy. What ensues is one of the most delightful and engrossingly readable courtships known to literature, written by a precocious Austen when she was just twenty-one years old.

Humorous and profound, and filled with highly entertaining dialogue, this witty comedy of manners dips and turns through drawing-rooms and plots to reach an immensely satisfying finale.

Anna said: This is a really tough question! Despite many contenders, I think it would be Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen (just in case there's another P and P floating around). It's one of my most re-read books, and Charlotte Lucas is one of the first aromantic characters I was exposed to.

Anna a cis quoiromantic ace from Canada. She's mostly just a lurker online, and doesn't get as much of a chance to read as she'd like.

Ruin of Stars by Linsey Miller

Summary (from goodreads): As Opal, Sal finally has the power, prestige, and most importantly the ability to hunt the lords who killed their family. But Sal has to figure out who the culprits are before putting them down. Which means trying to ignore the fact that Elise is being kept a virtual prisoner, and that the queen may have ulterior motives.

And the tales coming out of north are baffling. Talk of dark spirits, missing children, and magic abound. As Sal heads north toward their ruined homeland and the lords who destroyed everything, they learn secrets and truths that can't be ignored.

Avery says: I'd find it hard to survive with just ONE book, but if I had to choose--Mask of Shadows by Linsey Miller. Or, actually, I would want the sequel, Ruin of Stars. Both books are beautifully written, and I love all of the characters to pieces. The reason I'd want the sequel, though, is because everything from the first is fully developed and flaunting it by the time RoS comes around. Sal is brutal and doesn't shy back from who they are. I sleep with RoS under my pillow, so its fairly hard to describe how much this duology means to me.

Avery is an 18 year old book blogger, reviewer, and writer. They blog at Book Deviant where they talk about and promote diverse books.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Summary (from goodreads): Evelyn Hugo is finally ready to tell the truth about her glamorous and scandalous life. But when she chooses unknown magazine reporter Monique Grant for the job, no one in the journalism community is more astounded than Monique herself. Why her? Why now?

Monique is not exactly on top of the world. Her husband, David, has left her, and her career has stagnated. Regardless of why Evelyn has chosen her to write her biography, Monique is determined to use this opportunity to jumpstart her career.

Summoned to Evelyn’s Upper East Side apartment, Monique listens as Evelyn unfurls her story: from making her way to Los Angeles in the 1950s to her decision to leave show business in the late 80s, and, of course, the seven husbands along the way. As Evelyn’s life unfolds through the decades—revealing a ruthless ambition, an unexpected friendship, and a great forbidden love—Monique begins to feel a very a real connection to the actress. But as Evelyn’s story catches up with the present, it becomes clear that her life intersects with Monique’s own in tragic and irreversible ways.

Mars says: I would definitively want to bring The Seven Husbands is Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jeinkens Reid. It is one of those thicker volumes but a very rereadble book that I love to flip through and pick out my favorite quotes and scenes and quietly reflect on it. It would fill my time whilst being stranded on that desert island, because it’s truly such an extraordinary book that blows everything else that I’ve ever consumed out of the water(hehe beach puns amiright xD) I would highly recommend giving it a try this summer, because it does have a Cuban bisexual MC and explores Old 50-60s Hollywood through a unique perspective and written in a very interesting format. Perfect pick for this years Queer Reads Summer program!

Mars is a queer teenager who occasionally blogs at Lollipops Books and can be found chatting on Twitter @wildmoonchildz.

And then I asked Luci to answer this. Since I knew their answer would be Chameleon Moon, I technically am writing this before they've answered, because... we all know their answer is Chameleon Moon.

Chameleon Moon by RoAnna Sylver

Summary (from goodreads): The city of Parole is burning. Like Venice slips into the sea, Parole crumbles into fire.

The entire population inside has been quarantined, cut off from the rest of the world, and left to die - directly over the open flame. Eye in the Sky, a deadly and merciless police force ensures no one escapes. Ever. All that’s keeping Parole alive is faith in the midst of horrors and death, trust in the face of desperation… and their fantastic, terrifying, and beautiful superhuman abilities.

Luci* says: Chameleon Moon is literally the only book I ever think of (besides Laina's books, of course) and I love it more than most people love their children. It's literally perfect and you should read it because otherwise what even is the purpose of your life. Also my dog is the best dog.

*Luci took too long to get back to me, so I may have taken some liberties so I could schedule this and go to sleep.

Luce is an acearo enby who did not get their butt around to writing their bio fast enough so they're forfeiting the right to do so, and I am doing it for them. They once nearly had a heart attack from the end of Poltergeist, they have a beautiful dog, and they have awesome hair. Find them on twitter @soveryqueer.

That was much more interesting with other people involved!! Thanks for playing, everyone.

If you'd like to guest post for Queer Summer Reading (we really want more rec lists especially, and posts from queer bloggers of colour), check out this post!

Thanks for reading!

Book Blogger Hop (8)

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer from Crazy-For-Books and is now hosted by Billy of Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer.

This week's question is: You have just won a $100.00 Visa gift card. Will you spend the entire amount on a rare collector's edition you have always wanted, or buy several newly-published books? Explain your choice.

If I find $100 giftcard, I'd spend it on groceries. Your blogger is broke. Or, no, I'd probably spend it at Warehouse One. Your blogger always wants new leggings and Warehouse One is my favourite clothing store. Or maybe ASOS, because I need a pair of capris or two, and some plain black leggings, and ASOS is actually the cheapest place to buy leggings for me, which seems weird to me.

But if I was given, say, a $100 Amazon or Borders giftcard, I would probably buy like one new book that I really wanted, and then look through all the cheapest bargain books, because that's what I usually do, lol. I like buying the ones that are like three or four years older and you can buy hardcovers for like four dollars. I'm cheap!

Although I do have some really random books I would love to own. I wouldn't really call them collectors's editions. Mostly I have random whims to own books that I owned as a child, or random books about mythology, or books to complete series that I own parts of. I will leave a shameless Amazon wishlist plug here, because why not.

Sorry this was a bit of a boring answer, but it's the truth!

Peace and cookies,
Laina

Book Blogger Hop (7)

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer from Crazy-For-Books and is now hosted by Billy of Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer.

This week's question is: What author have you read the most in the past two years?

I've read seven volumes of Ms. Marvel over the last two years (and change), and that is definitely the most of anything. Other than that, it's just trilogies, and I'm not going to list a bunch of those, lol.

Other than that, if you count novellas, I read four books by Bree Despain. I'm gonna stick with the Ms. Marvel/G. Willow Wilson answer, though.

I guess I just don't read that many repeat authors! How about you?

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer from Crazy-For-Books and is now hosted by Billy of Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer.

This week's question is: What do you think your blog says about you?

Huh, good question. Honestly I'm not really sure. I hope it says that I work really hard on my reviews, and give a lot of time and effort to them, and into other posts as well. I also hope it says that I read a variety of books and not just one niche, but I'm really not sure.

I'm gonna bug Luci about this and see what they say, lol. Luci's so, so eloquent answer was, "Laina's blog is less obnoxious than a lot of other blogs I've seen." Thank you, friend.

Turning this one over to you, dear readers! What does my blog say about me?

Book Blogger Hop (5)

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer from Crazy-For-Books and is now hosted by Billy of Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer.

This week's question is: What were your worst movies based off of books?

I have many. Okay, first of all, there are some really terrible TV shows based on books, let's be real. Like the Scaredy Squirrel books are really cute, and I find that show incredibly annoying. And the Wayside TV show is... not horrible to watch if you're watching with a kid or something, but it's not anything like the books. Riverdale. So much Riverdale. The Magic School Bus reboot. Oh my gosh, do you guys remember Bitten, based on the Kelley Armstrong books? Was that any good?

Okay, movies. Well, we all know the Percy Jackson movies are terrible... but I kinda get a guilty pleasure out of watching them. They're just so bad. It's kind of hilarious. Oh man, any of the live action Dr. Seuss movies are just horrific. The Cat in the Hat, live action Grinch. I actually refuse to see The Giver because I know it's going to be awful and I just don't want to go there. Oh, here's one - I'm like one of the only people who isn't a big fan of the Howl's Moving Castle adaptation. It's not terrible or anything, but I like the book better and the movie didn't feel similar tonally to me.

The Golden Compass movie is probably one of the worst adaptations I've ever seen, and probably number one on my personal list. It ignores basically all of the actual message of the book, it becomes very Narnia or Harry Potter copy-catty, and it ruins the ending. It bugs me so much because I thought some of the actors were really great and well-cast, and it could have been a great movie if they hadn't wussed out.

Anyways, I'm going to stop now before I ramble longer.

What are your worse book adaptations?

Laina
